Confession: I never do New Game Plus in these games Posted: 19 Jan 2021 07:48 AM PST I've already done about 5 different runs, halfway through a 6th one, and planning a 7th. But all of them have been brand new characters. I don't know, for me half the fun is starting from scratch, planning out how to progress, making do with "transition" weapons until I find the one I'm looking for, stuff like that. I don't think it's that the challenge puts me off, I really enjoyed my SL1 playthrough, and some of my favorite bosses in the series have been some of the most brutal, like Midir and Isshin. But... I don't know, neither do I like the idea of going through the game multiple times with one build, nor the idea of having one "jack of all trades" character that's hit every softcap and has nowhere to go from there. Not that that'd be terrible, I guess that's fun too but I like always starting from scratch, starting a new journey, even roleplaying and headcanoning some stuff for individual characters sometimes. So whenever I see or hear someone at NG+7 and how challenging that is I'm like "damn that's cool... but I don't think I'll ever do that" [link] [comments] |
why the fuck did they give the crow people such great asscheeks? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 01:28 PM PST i fear no man, but those cheeks, they scare me also are they in any way related to mimics? cuz they got a few similar features [link] [comments] |
To everyone who beat Dark Souls before the age of youtube walkthroughs Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:15 PM PST I tip my hat to you. I've been making my way through Dark Souls for the first time and doing a pretty decent job of it all thanks to FightinCowboy's 100% walkthrough on youtube. Thanks to him, I actually feel like I'm getting decent at the game. I made it through Blighttown with minimal deaths and killed Quelaag on the very first attempt. I've now rung both Bells of Awakening and am on my way to take on Sif. All of that it thanks to him. I simply cannot imagine making my way through the labyrinthian asshole that is Blighttown on my own. It's unfathomable to me. For that matter, I can't imagine making my way through ANY part of this game on my own. I would have to clue where to go or what to do, and just thinking of all the soul items and such I would be missing makes me thankful. Everyone who beat this game when it first came out is a true legend. In all seriousness, you have my utmost respect. Praise the Sun! [link] [comments] |
I Feel Like I'm Disappointing Summons Posted: 20 Jan 2021 03:39 AM PST Most of the time I summon someone I just do it so I can observe the other player and how they approach a boss. Usually I summon without wanting to actually beat the boss, just get a better idea on how to fight them. Sometimes we will actually kill them but I go into it expecting to die. Unfortunately, that means I'm wasting my summons time so I've been dropping 4-5 humanity for their help (I'm about to beat the game and I have a ton). Is this fair, or would you get mad if I acted like this? [link] [comments] |
Just lost 200,000 souls in the dumbest way possible. Posted: 20 Jan 2021 02:03 AM PST I'm on NG+3 and had about 200,000 souls I was running around with, was just fighting some sucker blenders outside of the bed of chaos' entrance way when one hit me for about 2/3rds of my health and killed me. I set the controller down and figured I'd go have a snack before I got started again, and right as I was sitting back down, I died again, because I forgot I had on the helm of avarice to help my souls farming, wiping out my 200,000 souls and 10 humanity I had. That's enough dark souls for the night I think. [link] [comments] |

Finally beat dark Souls remastered!! Posted: 20 Jan 2021 03:56 AM PST I finished dark souls 3 some months ago and I wanted to play 2 but I had the 'failed to save game' bug so I tried to fix it but it was impossible and I got tired because I had tried everything I knew. Anyway, I started watching many dark souls gameplays and many people were saying that the first dark souls is the best and dark souls is much more interesting than the other 2 so having the experience of 3 I wanted more and I decided to buy thedark souls remastered. I didn't want to take it easy but I was not so sure which class I should pick. So I wanted to try the thief class because the game didn't gave you bow and I wanted to see the master key and try the challenge having bad armor and only a band it's knife for the whole game. In the 3rd dark souls I see many thieves using only bows, throwing knives and things like that and I wanted a more exciting fight as thief without bow and many items. So I tried thief and I was having a really hard time at the start. Fortunately I learned to party and backstab easily so the first places and bosses weren't that much of a problem. Although, after the iron golem most of the enemies at anor londo were unparriable(except the black knights) and it really gave me a hard time trying to kill everybody with only a bandit's knife. At last I fought ornstein and smough with a little help of our beloved solaire and some other players for whom I'm really thankful. Then I thought that the hard part of the game was coming to an end and the rest of the bosses wouldn't be a big problem. But with only a bandit's knife and a little pyromancy even having 45 dexterity and a lot of endurance and vitality was too hard for a thief with bad armor and no strength at all to defeat the four Lords all alone. Nito and the bed of chaos weren't that hard but the catacombs with the tomb of the giants and the lost izalith were hell for a weak thief. After these two bosses I got ready for the new londo ruins and the four kings. I thought that it wouldn't that hard because I was around 73 level at the time so with some good dodges the ghosts wouldn't be that hard. Well... it didn't take me much time to realise that with my knife I wouldn't be able to fight all the ghosts. I died many times but at last I made it to the darkwraiths who weren't too hard(easy one shot with the crit of bandit's knife with parry and backstab). So I summoned the witch and fought the four kings. I thought that with the spells' help this boss would not be that hard. But I was wrong, beatrice or whatever she is called was dying all the time almost from the start because instead of using sorcery to fight she was doing one or two spells and then fighting with a sword(I don't know if that's a bug or something but it was terrible). So with my co-op being completely useless I stopped summong her and tried one last time full of rage for that boss. I promised to myself that I would stop playing this game unless I had finished another rpg(pretty dumb but I was soooo angry) and that was the try that I didn't care about what happens. I was just rushing and hitting the kings without dodging. That was the least expected outcome but I beat it. I beat that damned boss which I didn't deal enough damage to kill at least one king before two more spawned. Having more and more spawning was cruel but that try either was lucky or I was tryharding too much without me even knowing it. I felt so proud of myself and continued my journey to the last boss seath. I have to say that it wasn't as hard as the four kings but it was much harder than the other two. The archives didn't give me a lot of trouble, only died a few times and cleared everything I could. Finally beat seath after some tries and proudly proceed to gwyn. I was a little sad because I took him only from parties but at the same time I felt really relieved. I finally beat this game that gave me hell! I got to say that having played senior and dark Souls 3 dark Souls remastered was the best rpg game I had ever played. It had such a different feeling that I can't describe. I hope you didn't get too bored with my story and now I'll head to finish the new game + trying to build some more strength to try new weapons and armor. I just wanted to share my story to players related with the game and maybe discuss some things. Thanks for reading :D [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2021 02:28 AM PST I want to join the red covenant but I'm down in new Orlando at the firepit where the 4 kings were and I'm running around everywhere and can't find him. It's so dark and I feel like I can run infinitely in any direction. I want the red eye stone so I can invade without getting cracked stones. I can only talk to the green giraffe at the main fire pit but he doesn't give me any options and I can't ask him where his brother is. Plz help. I don't want to start a new NG. [link] [comments] |
Need some pro advice for a charscter build Posted: 19 Jan 2021 11:55 PM PST When it comes to character builds and distributing skillpoints I'm the most random person. I have a character in mind but I just can't translate that into skillpoints or gear I have to use. I always played as the sword wielding knight with high defense.

I liked the Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith. Posted: 19 Jan 2021 11:50 AM PST I really liked both of these areas. First off fire levels are just cool, and fighting the former demon bosses in 2-3 hits felt great. There weren't any bad enemies, and the giant demons in the Lost Izalith were scary and cool. There were also a ton of bosses! Although all the bosses in the area were pretty easy and lackluster they were all fun for me. Ceaseless Discharge was annoying because I kept trying to keep my distance and got one-shot by the fire blast, but after that he was much better. The Bed of Chaos was really hard but also really fun. I liked the different, platforming challenge. It did feel bad to get swiped away in one hit, but it was balanced by the sides not respawning. I found myself able to bait the arms pretty easily and then dodging the decaying ground was pretty fun. It was really, really annoying how long the boss walk was though. Both areas had way too many bonfires (except for near the BoC) and I think that took away from the many creative shortcuts in the area though. The whole aesthetic of a broken demon city and the lore was thoroughly intriguing. I certainly like it more than the Tomb of Giants and stupid Nito GOD I hate Nito lol [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jan 2021 06:17 PM PST I have decided to pause Anor Londo exploration to practice parrying the two silver knights near the first bonfire. Has anyone else stopped to practice in an area? [link] [comments] |
Yearly no master key / skips / cheese run Posted: 19 Jan 2021 04:46 PM PST Sup guys! Last year I posted about a run I did, which was a no master key regular route beginner-like run and it was a blast. I decided to make it a yearly thing. The main idea is to not skip content , make it the *intended ?* route, avoid cheese and doing that makes me realize how much of the game I skip just for it being more effective and easier, not this time. So that means Taurus first, doing Capra the intended way (with poise), doing Gaping dragon and going through Blightown front entrance, doing Ceaseless legit, no Anor londo stairs skip, no fair lady covenant gotta fight Firesage and Centipede, doing onion bro questline so you get to Ash lake for a good and sad reason, no quit out or bombs on Bed of chaos and want to throw your pc out the window BUT I recommend it's super fun :). Is sl 65 a good spot to invade on ps4? And what upgrade level should I be? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 03:57 AM PST I'm just curious,I wanna do stuff in the painted world and anor London and I don't know the average [link] [comments] |
Who else likes being summoned to a huge group to beat a boss? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 11:23 AM PST I was playing DSR on switch last night and I got summoned with like 4 other people to beat manus. It was really fun to go through oolacile and beat up manus. I helped like 8 people in total beat manus last night so pog. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2021 12:04 AM PST On my third attempt fighting the Bed of Chaos, I took out the second "orb" and on my way to the center I got knocked down by the branch, but it hits me so that I fell right onto the center branch so I can kill it. I guess miracles do happen! Anything like this happen to any of you? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jan 2021 09:32 PM PST Let's try something, doesn't matter if it's a hidden area, boss, something funny. What is your favorite thing in each section of the map? I'll start first. Fire link shrine, people actually think people will jump down the well. Then they actually do it lol. [link] [comments] |
Master key on a first playthrough Posted: 19 Jan 2021 11:17 PM PST I just started the game after finishing bloodborne and I chose the master key as my gift, but am now wondering if that actually wasn't a great idea. I keep ending up in places that I feel like I'm not supposed to be and I feel like it might be better to do a playthrough without it first to get more of a feel for the layout of the world and then when I know what I'm doing use it on a second playthrough. What do you guys think? I'm not particularly far so I wouldn't really mind starting over. [link] [comments] |
Where currently is the best place for PvP? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 02:58 AM PST Me and a friend are both on NG (first run) haven't beat qwyn yet but cleared the DLC area. I hear nobody uses the arena matchmaking. We're both around SL 100. Is it best to PvP using covenants? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Have I nearly finished the game? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 05:41 PM PST Hi all, I'm in my first playthrough of the game, and I'm a bit of a God. A level 64 wearing Havel's Armour and swinging a gravelord +5 sword, I'm absolutely reking everything around me. Recently defeated the two demons in front of Amazing Chest Ahead my question is: how much more of the game have I left to complete? How much time (roughly, for a meandering thoroughly searching for loot first time player) is left? I know frampt was telling me I have to kill 4 bosses, I assume they're in the door in Anor Londo I couldn't go into, the door in Quelaags Domain, maybe New Londo Ruins and the Tomb of the Giants? When I have these 4 done is that game over? Or is there much more to the game? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jan 2021 10:18 PM PST I've found that when using the manual Crosshairs on any bow, my arrows will consistently drift right relative to my aim. So when sniping from long distances I have to aim further and further to the left to compensate. Is it just me? [link] [comments] |
Kinda feel like I ruined the game for myself by summoning Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:06 PM PST So, just beat Dark Souls for the first time. I kinda feel letdown and disappointed BECAUSE of how much easier summoning made the game. I read before playing someone saying that summoning and co-op was an integral part of the experience for playing Dark Souls but now that I'm done I feel the majority of the bosses were very anticlimactic. I tried Gwyn once and beat him second attempt because of a summon. Doesn't really feel like I achieved anything, but am I in the wrong for using the tools the game gives me to beat it? I honestly don't know, but it basically feels like I beat the game with a cheese strat or that somebody else best the game for me. In contrast I feel like I achieved much more in the first half of the game where I didn't summon (before Ornstein & Smough) and when I played Bloodborne where I didn't even know summoning was a thing. I'm not sure if I'll be summoning when I play Dark Souls II but I'm still worried I ruined my first Dark Souls experience. [link] [comments] |
